Palm Springs fest sets Talking Pictures program

Tom Hooper, Peter Greenaway among the participants

Helmers Tom Hooper and Peter Greenaway are among the notables set for Palm Springs film fest’s Talking Pictures program.

Greenaway will kick off the fest’s sit-downs with creatives with a lecture dubbed the “Death of Cinema,” set for Jan. 4. His latest pic, “Goltzius and the Pelican Company,” is screening at the fest.

Hooper and thesp Eddie Redmayne will talk up “Les Miserables” on Jan. 6.

Others set for the program are thesps Naomi Watts, discussing fest entry “The Impossible,” on Jan. 5; and Alan Cumming, discussing “Any Day Now,” on Jan. 12.

The 24th annual Palm Springs fest runs Jan. 3-14.
