Osio Cinemas sets relaunch after digital conversion

Calif. theater's grand opening ceremony is Oct. 26

Osio Cinemas, a local art theater in Monterey, Calif., has hopped aboard the digital bandwagon, with the location’s digital conversion marked by a grand opening ceremony set for Oct. 26.

The theater’s conversion was done as part of a re-building initiative from parent company Central Coast Cinemas, along with managing members Mark Borde and Mike Doban, who helped rescue Osio from bankruptcy a decade ago.

“As a locally owned and operated theater, we are thrilled to be able to take the next step into digital which many great independent theaters have not been able to do,” Borde said. “The Osio Cinemas will now be able to evolve alongside the major theatrical chains.”

Osio also will add a satellite dish, enabling the theater to stream live and pre-recorded alternative content.
