Nora Ephron ‘very ill,’ according to agent

Bryan Lourd tells ABC News the writer-director has leukemia

Nora Ephron’s agent Bryan Lourd has confirmed to ABC News that the Oscar-winning writer-director is “very ill with leukemia.” Reports earlier this afternoon, including one from gossip columnist Liz Smith, suggested that Ephron had died, causing considerable confusion on Twitter.

Ephron, 71, has several ongoing projects, including writing a biopic of Peggy Lee and directing Jane Austen update “Lost in Austen.”
