Njutafilms nabs Shortland’s ‘Lore’

Nonstop picks up Kim Ki-duk's 'Pieta'

STOCKHOLM — Njutafilms has picked up Swedish rights to Cate Shortland’s Australian coming-of-age drama “Lore,” which won four awards at last week’s Stockholm film fest.

The distrib also acquired Carlos Reygadas’ “Post Tenebras Lux,” which will be the Mexican helmer’s first release in Sweden.

Njutafilms, which began distributing theatrically last year, specializes in European arthouse pics with an edgy style. Among previous titles are Gaspar Noe’s “Enter the Void,” Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Dogtooth” and Maja Milos’ “Clip.”

Nonstop Entertainment has picked up Kim Ki-duk’s violent drama “Pieta.” Deal includes Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. The winner of Venice’s Golden Lion will be Kim’s first Swedish theatrical appearance since “3-Iron” in 2005.

Nonstop has also inked Nordic and Baltic rights to Richard Linklater’s “Before Midnight,” the follow-up to “Before Sunrise” and “Before Sunset.” It is set to release next year.
