News Corp. has announced the appointment of Hamish McLennan to a newly created role as exec VP, office of the chairman.
McLennan will report to News Corp. chairman-CEO Rupert Murdoch as well as the company’s president and chief operating officer, Chase Carey. Exec will be charged with enhancing News Corp.’s global brand partnerships that exploit the company’s media assets, including 20th Century Fox. Prior to joining News Corp., McLennan served as chairman-CEO of digital marketing company Y&R. McLennan resigned from that position last year, telling Bloomberg he wanted more time to spend with his family.
