New Regency, Plan B dial ‘Operators’

Adaptation centers on handling of war in Afghanistan

New Regency has optioned Michael Hastings’ tome “The Operators” and joined with Brad Pitt’s Plan B shingle to produce.

“Operators” has roots in Hastings’ 2010 article in Rolling Stone, “The Runaway General,” which chronicled the actions of U.S. Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal as head of the U.S. war effort in Afghanistan. That account, which included less-than-flattering quotes about President Obama from McChrystal, led to the general’s resignation later that year.

Book picks up where the article left off, chronicling Hastings’ observations during a 2010 pan-European trip with McChrystal as he gathered help for the war in Afghanistan. The book offers behind-the-scenes glimpses into the lives of top military officials, including their after-hours partying as well as life-and-death wartime decisions.

CAA and the Wylie Agency rep Michael Hastings. CAA also reps Plan B.
