New Regency books ‘Business Trip’

Pre-emptively picks up pitch from 'Happyness' scribe Steve Conrad

In a big pre-emptive buy, New Regency has acquired “Business Trip,” a comedy pitch from “The Pursuit of Happyness” scribe Steve Conrad.

Logline is being kept under wraps.

Conrad’s credits include Nicolas Cage-starrer “The Weather Man” and current 20th Century Fox Production “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.” He also directed 2008’s “The Promotion” for The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films, previously titled “Quebec,” which also marked his directorial debut.

Conrad is also writing Universal’s “Identity Thief,” which most recently signed Amanda Peet to join the cast with Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy.

CAA, The Collective and Weissmann, Wolff, Bergman, Coleman, Grodin & Evall rep Conrad.
