New Line Cinema has acquired the rights to Maggie Stiefvater’s young adult novel “The Raven Boys” with Akiva Goldsman on board to produce.
Goldsman and his Weed Road shingle will produce under their new partnership with Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell’s Safehouse Pictures.
Story revolves around Blue, a 16-year old from a family of psychics who has been foretold that she will cause her true love to die. Avoiding boys was pretty easy when she was younger but harder now that she is beginning to find herself attracted to them, especially the rich prep school-going circle of teen known as the Raven Boys.
One of the boys is seeking the burial place of a Welsh noble who is said to be in deep slumber and whoever awakens him will be granted a favor.
“The Raven Boys” will be published on September 18th and is the first in the four-book “Raven Cycle” series. No writer is attached at this time to the movie.
The WME and Andrea Brown Literacy repped Stiefvater’s “Shiver” trilogy and “Scorpio Races” has more than 2 million books in print.
