Chinese helmer Lin Lisheng’s “Million Dollar Crocodile” will open the Montreal World Film Festival on Aug. 23, fest prexy Serge Losique announced on Tuesday.
Pic will launch Montreal’s World Greats section.
It follows a boy who must save his best friend, a crocodile, which goes on the run after its wildlife farm home goes bust.
“Chinese cinema … can be compared to Hollywood in its variety and depth,” Losique said.
Lin and the film’s principal actors will be in Montreal.
The fest closes on Sept. 3.
