ROME — Multihyphenate Matthew Modine will head a jury for best first or second work at the rebooted Rome Film Festival.
The jury will also comprise director-scribe Laura Amelia Guzman, from the Dominican Republic, Italian actress Stefania Rocca, Italian director Alice Rohrwacher and British producer Tanya Seghatchian who developed and produced the first four “Harry Potter” films.
They will select a winner among works unspooling in all the fest’s competitive sections.
“Offering new directors an opportunity means, on the one hand, taking into consideration the most noteworthy debuts, and on the other, assessing whether style and originality are confirmed; something that only a second work can reveal,” said Rome topper Marco Mueller.
The lineup for Rome’s 7th edition will be announced on Oct. 10. Fest will run Nov. 9-17.
