Miss Piggy, Kermit set for Oscar telecast

Muppets icons to present at kudos

They might not be performing their Academy Award-nominated original song, but Miss Piggy and Kermit will be presenting at the Oscars, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Friday.

The Academy finally acquiesced to the Twitter pleas of fans as well as well-known industry figures like Judd Apatow who wanted to see the Muppets in the telecast.

The Hollywood icons will make their fifth Oscar appearance at the ceremony, joining previously announced presenters Halle Berry, the cast of “Bridesmaids,” Bradley Cooper, Tom Cruise, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Tom Hanks, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lopez. Chris Rock, Ben Stiller and Emma Stone.

The Oscar ceremony, hosted by Billy Crystal, will be broadcast live on ABC on Feb. 26.
