Spenser Cohen directing from a script he wrote
Millennium Films has come on board Somali piracy actioner “High Value
Target” with Spenser Cohen directing from his own script.
The contained actioner is designed to be a potential low-budget franchise described, as “Black Hawk Down” meets “The Raid”.
Inspired by real events, project centers on a multinational hit squad consisting of five elite special ops soldiers who take out a ship of 200 Somali soldier-pirates and capture a high-value target with vital information.
Cohen developed the project and set it up in July with Energy Independent, which was launched in February by Energy Entertainment owner Weaver with private equity sources that fund development, package and produce projects budgeted at $15 million and under.
Vinson’s credits include “The Guardian” “The Excorcism of Emily Rose” and “Red Dawn,” which FilmDistrict launches Wednesday.
