New banner will rep 'Origins 3D' at Cannes mart

Newly formed sales banner Meyers Media Group will handle international sales on director Zebediah De Soto’s “Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D” from Simon West Prods.

Announcement was made Tuesday following a screening of the pic hosted by West for three dozen buyers at the SoHo House in West Hollywood.

West (director of “Expendables 2″) is producing alongside Jib Polhemus (“The Mechanic”), Gus Malliarodakis and Matty Mangone-Miranda. Pic, written by De Soto, David Reuben Schwartz and Warren Davis, is a motion-capture reimagining of George A. Romero’s 1968 zombie film.

Danielle Harris, Tom Sizemore and Tony Todd, Bill Mosely and Joe Pilato star in the film, in which New York lies in ruin when zombies have overtaken the city. For the few people left alive there is only one dream — survival.

“Dead” is shot completely in a CG environment using stereoscopic 3D and uses facial capture technology that weds the look of graphic novels and modern animation.

“Horror films, especially zombie-based films, already have a huge audience, so it is particularly exciting to reinvent the genre with a totally new look,” West said.

The film has been produced with the cooperation of the Graphic Film Co. in association with Giant Studios (“Tin Tin”).

Meyers Media Group will be representing “Dead” at the upcoming Cannes Film Market along with additional titles currently being assembled.
