Metrodome nabs Jokinen’s ‘Purge’

Pic is Finland's entry in Oscars

British distrib Metrodome has acquired all rights to Antti Jokinen’s “Purge,” which is Finland’s entry in the Oscars foreign-language film category.

An adaptation of Sofi Oksanen’s best-seller, the film is a gripping trans-generational drama about an Estonian family crushed by the historic forces of the Soviet Union and its eventual collapse.

The film has grossed more than $2.4 million in local distribution and lead actress Laura Birn has been named as one of European Film Promotion’s 10 Shooting Stars, who will be introduced during the Berlin film festival in February.

The film is produced by Marcus Selin of Solar Films. International sales are handled by TrustNordisk.
