Exec to focus on local productions
BERLIN — Producer Marco Mehlitz, who most recently co-produced David Cronenberg’s “A Dangerous Method,” has been tapped as head of development and productions at Fox Intl. Prods. Germany.Mehlitz will report directly to Fox Intl. Prods. prexy Sanford Panitch and work closely with Vincent de La Tour, managing director of Frankfurt-based 20th Century Fox of Germany, and Germar Tetzlaff, the distrib’s senior product manager in charge of local productions and acquisitions, on the acquisition and development of German feature film productions. Mehlitz, a Berlin native, has worked as a producer and co-producer for more than 15 years on German and international productions, including Istvan Szabo’s “The Door,” starring Helen Mirren, Jennifer Chambers Lynch’s “Surveillance” and Jaco Van Dormael’s ” Mr. Nobody.” Joining Mehlitz as Fox Intl. Prods. Germany’s creative executive is film producer Kiri Trier, who most recently worked at Media Antenne Munich, an advisory office of the EU’s Media Program. Fox Intl. Prods. Germany’s productions include Matthias Schweighoefer’s upcoming comedy “Schlussmacher,” about an employee of an agency that specializes in helping couples break up.
