Callan McAuliffe has joined the cast of the telepic “Underground,” based on the early life of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
Pic currently stars Alex Williams as Assange along with Anthony LaPaglia and Rachel Griffiths.
Matchbox Pictures is behind the project, with Robert Connolly writing and helming. Pic follows a detective (LaPaglia) who tracks Assange’s activity in Melbourne in the late ’80s and early ’90s, when he led a ring of underground hackers. McAuliffe will play one of Assange’s friends.
McAuliffe, repped by UTA and Alchemy Entertainment, most recently wrapped lensing on “The Great Gatsby.”
