Callan McAuliffe (“The Great Gatsby”) has been cast as the lead in Aron Gaudet’s coming of age indie “Blue Potato.”
Produced by Sunny Side Up Films, “Blue Potato” about two teenage boys and their last summer working the potato harvest.The film is set in Aroostook County, Me., with production starting next week in Maine.
Sara Jude Sutherland has been cast as the love interest.
McAuliffe recently wrapped in “Underground,” portraying an ally to Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, and will next be seen in Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby” as young Jay Gatsby. Previous credits include “I Am Number Four” and “Flipped.”
Gaudet directed the 2009 documentary “The Way We Get By,” centered on three senior citizens have greeted nearly one million U.S. troops at a tiny airport in Maine.
McAuiliffe is represented by UTA and Alchemy Entertainment.
