Dimension Films has tapped “The Cooler” thesp Maria Bello to star in its untitled James Wan thriller.
Wan, the co-creator of the “Saw” and “Insidious” franchises, will produce along with Lee Clay.
Helmer most recently directed New Line’s “The Conjuring.” “The Brotherhood’s” Will Canon will direct Wan’s pic for Dimension from a script by Max La Bella.
Filmmakers plan to begin shooting this January in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Pic takes place after the massacre of five college students in an abandoned house. Investigators must trace the murders to what began as an innocent ghost-hunting activity and turned into a terrifying escapade involving the house itself.
Bello most recently joined Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal in Denis Villeneuve’s crime drama “Prisoners.”
