Mandalay teams on ‘Bushido’ adaptation

Partners with Heroes and Villains, Top Cow to develop film

Mandalay Pictures has partnered with Heroes and Villains Entertainment and Top Cow Prods. to develop their upcoming comicbook series “Bushido: The Way of the Warrior” as a feature film.

Story, set in feudal Japan, revolves around a shipwrecked boy who grows up as an outcast but leads a brave band of Samurai against a bloodthirsty horde of vampires in order to save Japan from certain doom.

Cathy Schulman and Adam Stone are producing for Mandalay Pictures along with Markus Goerg of Heroes and Villains, whose Dick Hillenbrand and Mikhail Nayfeld will exec produce with Shahin Chandrasoma. Marc Silvestri and Matt Hawkins will co-produce for Top Cow.

The first issue of the “Bushido” series will be released in early 2013 through Top Cow/Image Comics.

Heroes and Villains Entertainment and Top Cow were repped in the deal by attorney Harris Miller.
