Robert Cringely filmed talk in 1995; docu will bow May 11

Magnolia Pictures has acquired U.S. rights to “Steve Jobs: The Lost Interview,” filmed in 1995 by Robert Cringely.

Magnolia will open the film in select theaters on May 11, with a DVD and VOD release to follow later this summer. The film received limited special screenings at select theaters in the Landmark circuit earlier this year.

In the interview, Jobs discussed his early days, career battles and vision for the future. Small portions of the piece were used for a TV series at the time, but the vast majority was shelved and had been thought lost until recently.

The interview took place two years before Jobs would retake control of Apple Computer.
