‘Madagascar 3’ to premiere at Cannes

DreamWorks Animation continues its love affair with French fest

Madagascar 3” is making its world premiere in Cannes, the first summer tentpole to stake a date on the sked — and only the second film announced after festival opener “Moonrise Kingdom” from Wes Anderson.

DreamWorks has some history on the Croisette, having premiered “Shrek” (2000), “Shrek 2” (a 2004 competition title), “Over the Hedge” (2006) and “Kung Fu Panda” (2008) there. DWA also held its international junket for “Kung Fu Panda 2” in Cannes, though it was not in the festival.

Paramount is releasing the 3D “Madagascar 3” in the U.S. on June 8.
