Locarno to fete Leos Carax

Helmer to receive Leopard of Honor

ROME — The Locarno Film Festival will fete Gallic auteur Leos Carax with its Swisscom Leopard of Honor for career achievement.

Carax, whose wild and surreal “Holy Motors” recently drew critical cheers at Cannes, will be on hand for the prizegiving cermony on Locarno’s 8,000-seat Piazza Grande. He will also hold an onstage conversation at the Swiss lakeside fest dedicated to indie fare, where a retro of his works, including “Boy Meets Girl,” “The Lovers on the Bridge” and “Pola X,” will unspool as part of the tribute.

The 65th edition of Locarno will run Aug. 1-11.
