Buyers, programmers get sneak peek

ROME — The 65th Locarno Film Festival will offer a taste of Mexican cinema at its second Carte Blanche showcase.

The Swiss fest’s event will feature between five and eight films in post, screening for prospective international buyers and fest programmers.

The showcase is organized by Locarno’s Industry Office in partnership with Mexico’s national film board, Imcine. Last year’s initiative focused on Colombia.

Winning pic will get 10,000 Swiss Francs ($11,000) toward completion. Selected entries will be announced in July.

Carte Blanche takes place on Aug. 5. The fest runs Aug. 1-11.
