Step In workshop offers marketing and distrib strategies

The Locarno Film Festival is looking to boost waning distribution of European movies in Eastern Europe with an initiative called Step In, which will see 12 top industryites from the region attend a workshop during the fest’s Industry Days informal mart, which runs Aug. 4-6.

Goal of the initiative, launched in tandem with the European Union’s Media program and other European film orgs, is to devise and implement new marketing and distribution strategies for Euro pics in a dozen countries, including Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania and Hungary.

The 65th edition of the Swiss fest, dedicated to indie movies, takes place Aug. 1-11.
