Levy sets ‘Interns’ as next helming gig

Move makes 'Frankenstein' look doubtful

Amidst rumblings that he won’t direct 20th Century Fox’s “Frankenstein” after all, Shawn Levy has chosen “The Internship” as his next project.

“Real Steel” helmer will start shooting the pic June 25, with “Wedding Crashers” thesp duo Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson set to star. The duo will portray two old-school salesmen who, finding themselves suddenly unemployed in the digital world, try to reinvent themselves by becoming interns at a major tech company.

Levy’s 21 Laps Entertainment and Vaughn’s Wild West Picture Show Productions will produce the film based on Vaughn’s original script.

Fox-based Levy has been attached to a number of high-profile projects recently, including “Fantastic Voyage” and “Frankenstein,” making many bizzers wonder what his next helming gig would be.

Levy recently produced “Neighborhood Watch,” which Fox will unspool July 27. Multihyphenate is currently at work on “Rosaline” with Michael Sucsy set to direct.
