Lawton to lead business, legal at Relativity

Promoted exec will report to prexy Tucker Tooley

Relativity Media has promoted Rosalind Lawton to head of the business and legal affairs department.

Lawton, who had previously served as exec VP, business and legal affairs, will report directly to Relativity prexy Tucker Tooley.

As department head, Lawton will take responsibility for negotiating all of the shingle’s single-picture agreements, including rights, talent, acquisition, co-financing and distribution. Lawton previously worked on talent and acquisition deals for pics including “21 and Over,” “Safe Haven” and the currently titled “Out of the Furnace.”

Prior to Relativity, Lawton served as VP of business and legal affairs at Miramax.

Exec VP of business and legal affairs Linda Benjamin will continue to oversee international financing and distribution under co-chief operating officer Gregory Shamo.
