Kino Lorber acquires ‘Country’

Nabs U.S. rights to Hong Sang-soo English-lingo pic

Kino Lorber has acquired all U.S. rights to “In Another Country” from South Korean director Hong Sang-soo.

Isabelle Huppert starrer is in competition at the Cannes Film Festival. The film is Hong’s first English-speaking production (with dialogue in Korean as well). Huppert plays three different characters in three different story segments — all of them spawned from the imagination of a young film student.

The deal was negotiated between Kino CEO Richard Lorber and Finecut CEO Young-joo Suh.

Kino Lorber is planning to launch the film onto the U.S. festival circuit during late summer and fall before a national theatrical rollout later this year.
