Robert Eggers' period horror pic to sell at AFM

LONDON — K5 Intl. has picked up worldwide sales on 17th-century horror project “The Witch of New-Canaan Woode,” which it will be pre-selling at AFM.

Scripted and helmed by Robert Eggers, the film tells the story of a young farming family, living in a remote area on the edge of a forest, who are preyed on by a witch.

Jan Van Hoy and Lars Knudsen produce for their production company Parts & Labor, alongside Red Code Prods.’ Jodi Redmond and Scythia Films’ Daniel Bekerman.

Lensing is set to begin in next year.

Eggers is the artistic director of Palehorse Prods., helming and designing the company’s New York legit debut “Othello,” as well as working on various legit productions, skeins and shorts. “The Witch of New-Canaan Woode” marks his feature debut as helmer.

Other pics on K5’s AFM slate include “4 1/2 Minutes,” a New York-set laffer about the world of stand-up comedians, directed by and starring Renee Zellweger, action thriller “Vehicle 19,” starring Paul Walker, and Duncan Jones’ “Fleming,” about the James Bond creator.
