'Friends' make time for Westfeldt's debut
Members of the NBC comedy family dropped by the SVA Theater on Monday night for a Cinema Society screening of Lionsgate’s “Friends With Kids,” which reunites “Bridesmaids'” cast members Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Chris O’Dowd and Jon Hamm for writer-thesp Jennifer Westfeldt’s directorial debut.
“It was more of just a tapestry of observing so many people in our life make this seismic, profound transition to parenting and how everyone handled it differently,” Westfeldt said.
With that many comedic actors in one place, there were a few shenanigans on set, but no pranks; according to Adam Scott, those went out with the ’90s.
“I think Mel Gibson and Joe Pesci did it on the ‘Lethal Weapon 3’ set and that was about it,” Scott said.
At the Top of the Standard afterparty, where the “SNL” gang hung out together, Wiig tossed a cheeseburger to a partygoer next to her, sang along to the music and chatted with Paul Rudd and Jonah Hill.
