John Leguizamo in talks for U’s ‘Ride Along’

Busy thesp poised to join cast of Ice Cube-Kevin Hart laffer

John Leguizamo is poised to add another pic to his slate as the busy actor is in negotiations to join Universal’s “Ride Along.”

Laffer stars Ice Cube and Kevin Hart, with Tim Story helming.

Pic revolves around a school teacher who must survive a nightmarish “ride along” with his fiancee’s cop brother who disapproves of the marriage. Leguizamo will play a undercover cop.

Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay are currently working on a rewrite of the script originally penned by Greg Coolidge, Roger Kumble, Bob Fisher, Steve Faber and Jason Mantzoukas.

Ice Cube will produce through his Cube Vision banner with Matt Alvarez and William Packer from Rainforest Films.

Scott Bernstein, U’s exec veep of production, is overseeing the project for the studio.

Leguizamo, repped by UTA and the Collective, recently wrapped production on Fox’s “The Counselor” and is now filming Universal’s “Kick-Ass 2.”
