Joely Richardson in final talks for ‘Paganini’

English-language film shoots this July in Vienna

Joely Richardson (“Anonymous,” “The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo”) is in final negotiations to join David Garrett in “Paganini – The Devil’s Violinist.”

The English-language project is shooting in Vienna in July. Film is produced by Summerstorm Entertainment, a subsidiary of Christian Angermayer’s Film House Germany, and co-produced by Bavaria Media Italia and Dor Film.

The film is being produced by Gabriela Bacher (“What a Man”), Rosilyn Heller and Christian Angermayer of Film House Germany. Danny Krausz (“360”) and Philipp Kreuzer (“Solitude of Prime Numbers”) are co-producing. Garrett will also executive produce.

Set in the early 19th Century, the film recounts the life of Niccolo Paganini, portrayed by Garrett.

“David Garrett is a tremendous talent, a true rock star of the classical music and crossover world who recognized in Paganini a kindred spirit,” said Heller.

The story will focus on the Faustian pact Paganini made with his manager as they created a myth around his persona that made him a superstar performer, taking Europe by storm.

Richardson will playing the role of Ethel Langham, a journalist who was significant in reporting the unfolding of Paganini’s life and career.

Bernard Rose (“Immortal Beloved,” “Anna Karenina”) is writing and directing the film.
