Jeffery Wright set for ‘Shot’

Thesp replaces Whitaker in helmer Rosenthal's thriller

VANCOUVER — Jeffery Wright is replacing Forest Whitaker in the thriller “A Single Shot,” which is co-produced by Unified Pictures and B.C.-based Bron Films (“Janie Jones”).

Jason Isaacs is also attached to join the cast, which stars the previously announced Sam Rockwell and W.H. Macy.

It’s helmed by David M. Rosenthal (“Janie Jones”) from a screenplay by Matthew F. Jones, who wrote the original novel. A new female lead is currently in negotiations. Juliette Lewis and Jennifer Jason Leigh had previously been attached to star.

“A Single Shot” follows John Moon (Rockwell), a hunter who accidentally shoots a teenage girl while illegally poaching deer.

Trying to dispose of her body, he stumbles on a small fortune, unleashing a tense and atmospheric game of cat and mouse between himself and the backwater criminals out for his blood.

Pic began shooting in Vancouver last week.
