Warner Bros. also retitles Bryan Singer's Jack and the Beanstalk pic

Warner Bros. has moved Bryan Singer’s Jack and the Beanstalk feature forward three weeks to March 1 and changed the title to “Jack the Giant Slayer” from “Jack the Giant Killer.”

The film, produced by New Line and Legendary, was originally slotted for this past June 15. Brit thesp Nicholas Hoult stars; script by Darren Lemke centers on the kidnapping of a princess, which threatens the long-standing peace between men and giants.

“Jack” will face off against Fox Searchlight’s thriller “Stoker” and Relativity’s comedy “21 and Over.”

The March 22 slot remains occupied by Fox’s “The Croods” and Sony’s “Captain Phillips.”
