iPic plans luxe theater in Westwood

Adds to nine existing locations

Luxury theater chain iPic Entertainment has signed a lease to start construction on a new wine-and-dine location at the site of L.A.’s former AMC AVCO Center in Westwood.

The iPic theater will feature six screens, totaling 480 seats with signature food and cocktails served. Theater is slated to open early 2013.

“We are excited and proud to bring the revolutionary concept of iPic Theaters to the heart of Los Angeles,” said Hamid Hashemi, prexy and CEO of iPic. “Moviegoers escape to where iconic design and contemporary luxury set the stage for an exclusive lifestyle destination.”

The Florida-based chain operates nine locations with 67 screens, including one existing location in Pasadena.

Premium ticket prices range between $14-$18 per ticket, while premium plus ducats are $24-$28 for non-members; a free iPic membership program offers discounted tickets, as well as priority notification of available tickets for tentpole pics and access to free upgrades to premium seating.
