IFC Midnight has acquired North and Latin American rights to director Jon Wright’s monster comedy “Grabbers,” which played at Sundance.
The film, with a script by Kevin Lehane, stars Richard Coyle, Ruth Bradley, Russell Tovey, Lalor Roddy, David Pearse and Bronagh Gallagher. Film is produced by Tracy Brimm and Kate Myers of Forward Films, Martina Niland of Samson Films, Eduardo Levy and James Martin of High Treason Prods. and Piers Tempest of the Salt Co.
“Grabbers” is set in a sleepy fishing village off the coast of Ireland, where two mismatched cops attempt to protect the islanders from the giant, bloodsucking, tentacled aliens that are out to get them — with booze as their only weapon. IFC plans to release “Grabbers” later this year.
The deal was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, senior VP of acquisitions and productions for Sundance Selects/IFC Films with Samantha Horley for the Salt Co. and Jay Cohen for Gersh on behalf of the filmmakers.
IFC Midnight is a sister division to IFC Films and Sundance Selects and is owned and operated by AMC Networks.
