IFC Films has acquired U.S. rights to Conor Allyn’s action thriller “Java Heat,” starring Kellan Lutz and Mickey Rourke.
Allyn wrote and produced with his father, Rob Allyn, of Margate House Films. Deal was closed at AFM.
Story centers on the aftermath of a suicide bombing in Indonesia, where a reckless American posing as a grad student is bent on vengeance but quickly finds that the world’s problems can’t be solved with violence alone.
Conor Allyn’s film credits include the “Red & White” trilogy of war dramas set amid the late 1940s Indonesian revolution, which he wrote and directed.
Deal includes nationwide theatrical distribution and was negotiated by Arianna Bocco for IFC.
