Identity Films books ‘Mr. Timothy’

Plans to bring 'Christmas Carol' reimagining to bigscreen

Identity Films is developing a feature version of Louis Bayard’s “Mr. Timothy,” a historical thriller that reimagines the Tiny Tim character from Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.”

Project centers on a twentysomething who resides in a London whorehouse in exchange for tutoring the madam while struggling to wean himself from financial dependence on his ancient “Uncle” Ebenezer Scrooge. Bayard’s novel was published in 2003.

Identity’s Anthony Mastromauro will produce and plans on going out to filmmakers in the coming weeks.

Earlier this year Mastromauro and Danielle Pelland of Entendre Films picked up the rights to Bill Mason’s memoir “Confessions of a Master Jewel Thief,” originally set up at Paramount.

Bayard’s “The Pale Blue Eye” has been set up at Fox with Peter Chernin producing.
