'Hunger Games' actor to receive breakthrough performer nod

“Hunger Games” thesp Josh Hutcherson will receive the Breakthrough Performer of the Year Award at the Big Screen Achievement Awards held April 26 during exhibitor confab CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

“With an already impressive resume of films under his belt, Hutcherson is one of the most accomplished young actors of his time,” said CinemaCon managing director Mitch Neuhauser.

Before “The Hunger Games,” Hutcherson starred in “Journey 2: Mysterious Island,” with Dwayne Johnson, and he will appear next in “Red Dawn” and “Detention,” slated for later this year.

CinemaCon, the annual conference held by the National Assn. of Theater Owners, runs April 23-26.
