Entertainment Industry Foundation host is unforgettable
Every gala should be hosted by Melissa Peterman. At April 18′s “An Unforgettable Evening,” a benefit for the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund, Peterman began by poking fun at herself, a surprising choice for the BevHilton gig.
“My only guess is that Rita Wilson was blown away by my performance as Hooker No. 2 in the movie ‘Fargo,’ ” she joked. Honorary chairs Wilson and Kate Capshaw presented awards with fund co-founders Kelly Chapman Meyer, Anne Douglas, Quinn Ezralow, Marion Laurie and Jaime Tisch. When Steven Spielberg took the stage, Peterman remarked, “Congrats on ‘Titanic’ in 3D. I loved it.” “King of the world, right?” Spielberg shot back. Rihanna closed the night with a five-song set including her hit “Umbrella,” which had guests dancing on tabletops. Peterman noted that the musical act “officially made me the coolest aunt ever, because I can technically say that I opened for Rihanna.”
