Film's stars talk their favorite Hitchcock flicks
“Hitchcock” preemed Sunday at the Ziegfeld, and surprisingly, even though the Fox Searchlight pic is all about the making of “Psycho,” some of the new pic’s stars preferred other Alfred Hitchcock classics.
” ‘Vertigo’ is my favorite Hitchcock movie,” said Helen Mirren, “but even his less-successful films are very interesting.”
“My favorite Hitchcock movie is ‘Strangers on a Train,’ ” said Scarlett Johansson, “because it makes you feel slightly disoriented.”
Jessica Biel was more noncomittal. “Every film Alfred Hitchcock made was a stepping stone to something,” she said.
Then again, “Psycho” has its fans. “It was ahead of its time in putting gore in your face and setting the stage for the genre that exists today,” said Ralph Macchio, who chatted with co-star James D’Arcy at the 21 Club afterparty.
