Longtime member re-elected prexy
Aida Takla-O’Reilly was re-elected Friday for a second term as prexy of the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn., keeper of the Golden Globes.
Jorge Camara also earned a new term as vice-president at the vote during the org’s annual meeting at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, while Ali Sar was re-elected treasurer unopposed.
Takla-O’Reilly, a member of the HFPA for more than 50 years, also led the org from 1994-96 and will run the HFPA as it continues its legal battle with Dick Clark Prods. over control of the kudocast. The org was seeking to appeal appealing a federal judge’s ruling in favor of DCP, but the two parties were in dispute over how the complicated case should proceed (Variety, May 14).
She also made news last year for bringing Ricky Gervais back as host of the Globes this year following his controversial appearance in 2011. Gervais handled the gig with less notoriety while maintaining his three-year average of approximately 17 million total viewers on NBC.
