Herb Cheyette, former ICM agent, dies

Negotiated film deals for Dr. Seuss estate

Former ICM agent Herb Cheyette, who long represented the estate of Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss), negotiating numerous film and television deals, including for the successful adaptations of “Horton Hears a Who!” and “The Lorax,” died of cancer in La Jolla, Calif., on Oct. 2. He was 83.

Cheyette joined a predecessor agency of ICM after working at CBS and Capitol Records.

He was a graduate of Yale Law School and alumnus of the Yale Drama School.

Survivors include his wife, Marie-Louise; three sons; and six grandchildren.
