Harper to helm ‘Woman in Black’ sequel

Jon Croker has penned 'Angel of Death'

LONDON — Hammer has set U.K. helmer Tom Harper to lense the sequel to its $130 million worldwide grosser “The Woman in Black.”

“The Woman in Black: Angel of Death” will pick up the story four decades after the events of the first film, setting the story during World War II with the arrival of a group of evacuee children at Eel Marsh House.

Jon Croker scripted the new film, described in the announcement as “the next instalment in the series,” based on an original story by author Susan Hill.

Harper previously helmed 2009’s “The Scouting Book for Boys,” and most recently helmed “The Borrowers” for BBC television.

The film will be produced by Hammer parent company Exclusive Media, Talisman, Cross Creek Pictures and Alliance Films. Exclusive will handle worldwide sales, with Alliance Films distributing in Canada, and in U.K./Ireland through Momentum Pictures, and Spain through Aurum Producciones.
