Hamptons to toast Schamus

Multi-hyphenate honored at Long Island fest

Focus Features topper James Schamus will be honored at the 20th annual Hamptons Intl. Film Festival with the fest’s yearly Industry Toast.

Schamus, also a professor at Columbia U., will be feted for a career that includes screenwriting credits (“The Ice Storm,” “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”) and producing gigs (“Brokeback Mountain”) as well as his stints as an exec at Focus and, prior to that, indie production company Good Machine.

Toast is set for Oct. 5 at resort East Hampton Point. With a slate of films still to be announced, the 2012 edition of HIFF is set to run Oct. 4-8 at Long Island venues stretching from Montauk to Southampton.
