Haley Bennett books thriller ‘Kristy’

'Donkey Punch' helmer Oliver Blackburn helms for Dimension

Following a career boost from Terrence Malick’s taste for unknown female leads, Haley Bennett is moving on to “Kristy,” the psychological thriller from the Weinstein Company.

Oliver Blackburn (“Donkey Punch”) helms, with Anthony Jaswinski penning the script.

Described as a “Rosemary’s Baby” type thriller, the story follows a girl who is alone on campus over the Thanksgiving break when a random encounter with a gang of violent outcasts leads them to target her as their next victim. To survive, she must conquer her deepest fears to outwit them and fight back.

TWC and Jamie Patricof and Lynette Howell of Electric City Entertainment are producing along with David Kirschner and Corey Sienega.

The WME- and Schiff Company-repped Bennett has seen her star rise in the past year with her biggest boost as one of the female leads in Terrence Malick’s untitled pic starring Christian Bale.

With “Kristy,” Bennett could be following a similar path as Jessica Chastain, who saw similar results after breaking out in a Malick pic.
