Road-trip thriller stars Tim Roth as hit-man

LONDON

Grindstone Entertainment has snapped up North American rights for Tim Roth starrer “The Liability,” which preemed at the Cannes Market last month.

The road trip thriller, which is also screening at Brit film export event London U.K. Film Focus this week, will be released in the U.S. and Canada through Lionsgate Home Entertainment, which has a distribution deal with Grindstone.

Pic will also be released by Revolver Entertainment in the U.K. and Nikkatsu Corp. in Japan.

“Liability,” directed by Craig Viveiros (“Ghosted”) from a screenplay by John Wrathall, sees Roth play a veteran hitman with an eager apprentice played by Jack O’Connell (“Harry Brown”).

Talulah Riley (“Pride and Prejudice”) and Peter Mullan (“Tyrannosaur”) also star.

Richard Johns and Rupert Jermyn produce.

Pre-sales on the pic were previously concluded for Germany (Koch Media), Australia and New Zealand (Vendetta Pictures), Brazil (PlayArte) and CIS/Baltic States (New Entertainment Partners).

AV Pictures is handling worldwide rights.
