Airlines exec onboard as company moves into inflight entertainment biz
Global Eagle Acquisition, which is moving into the inflight entertainment business, has tapped veteran airlines executive Dave Davis as VP and CFO.Global Eagle, headed by longtime showbiz execs Harry Sloan and Jeff Sagansky, announced last week that it was buying two companies — U.S.-based broadband service Row 44 and Germany-based content supplier Advanced Inflight Alliance — in a transaction valued at $430 million.The new entity will be dubbed Global Eagle Entertainment once the deal closes. In his role at Global Eagle, Davis will be responsible for financial planning and analysis, controllership, tax, treasury, investor relations, and mergers and acquisitions activity. “As the in-flight entertainment experience continues to evolve at a rapid pace, Dave’s keen insight will be crucial in developing the innovative products and services that move our business forward,” said Ed Shapiro, chairman of Row 44 and chairman-designate of Global Eagle Entertainment. Davis most served as senior VP of enterprise finance at Best Buy and has held exec VP posts at US Airways and Northwest Airlines. He also served as senior managing director of Perseus LLC and cofounded Bearpath Capital, a private equity and management advisory firm.
