Fox ups Kilkenny to VFX prexy

Exec worked on 'Avatar,' 'X-Men,' 'Apes'

Twentieth Century Fox Film has upped John Kilkenny to the position of visual effects prexy.

Kilkenny joined the studio in 2005 as SVP of visual effects and became exec VP in 2008.

Kilkenny oversaw the effects on “Avatar,” as well as “Night at the Museum,” “X-Men: First Class” and “Rise of the Planet of the Apes.”

Exec most recently supervised work on Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” and is currently busy with Fox’s adaptation of Yann Martel’s novel “Life of Pi.”

Kilkenny joined the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciencies this year. Before Fox, he worked as an associate producer and vfx producer for pics including “Garfield” and “I, Robot.”
