Fortissimo sees the ‘Light’

It picks up worldwide distrib rights to pianist biopic

LONDON

Fortissimo Films has acquired worldwide distribution rights, excluding Taiwan, China and Hong Kong, to Jet Tone Films’ “Touch of the Light” in the run up to the Toronto Film Festival.

Directed by Chang Jung-chi, the film is produced by Wong Kar Wai’s Jet Tone Films and Hong Kong’s Sil-Metropole Organization.

Premiering at the Taipei Film Festival in July, the true-life drama won best actress for Taiwan’s Sandrine Pinna and the audience prize.

“Touch” is based on the life of blind piano prodigy Huang Yu-hsiang, who plays himself in the film. It is presented by Wong with Jacky Pang Yee-wah and Cheung Hong-tat producing.

Warner Bros. will release the film in Taiwan in late September. It will be released in China and Hong Kong in early 2013.
