Incoming senior VP of publicity will oversee domestic theatrical campaigns

FilmDistrict has hired Elissa Greer as senior VP of publicity, overseeing the domestic theatrical publicity and promotional campaigns.

Greer will report to Christine Birch, FilmDistrict’s president of marketing.

Greer recently served as exec VP of publicity and promotion at New Line, where she oversaw national publicity campaigns, talent relations, special events, field marketing and specialized outreach for both the New York and Los Angeles departments.

She began her career at New Line in 1992 and has worked on “Lord of the Rings,” “Elf,” Hairspray,” “The Notebook” and “Sex and the City.”

Greer has also worked as an independent publicity consultant on such projects as “Precious” and “Bully.”

Last month FilmDistrict hired Tracy Pollard, Brad Goldberg and Anna Baxter as senior VPs.

Upcoming FilmDistrict releases include “Lopper” and “Red Dawn.”
